Gregory Orr says we are each born with a natural inclination to write in one of four temperaments, which he identifies as Story, Structure, Music, and Imagination. In this three-week workshop we will examine which of these temperaments come most naturally as your style and experiment with techniques to deepen, as well as vary and broaden that instinctive style. Open to all poets who want to explore a new approach to developing their natural skills and writers in other genres who wish to give poetry a try. For our first session please bring ten copies of a poem or short piece (no more than one page, please!) that you feel represents your writing style. We will not be critiquing this work but use it to discover the temperaments inherent in your style.
