About the event
Writing in the voice of a persona offers a special creative opportunity to adopt the personality, history, diction and obsessions of someone (or something!) other than yourself. Whether you call this writing persona poems or dramatic monologues, this form offers ways to stretch your skills as a fiction writer, as a poet, a dramatist, or a writer of memoir. Open to experienced as well as novice writers, we will explore, write and share our work finding new ways to express ourselves creatively in an encouraging and welcoming environment.
Format: Four two-hour sessions. Session I will be a craft talk to learn from examples of persona writing with the session ending with a free write activity and an assignments for experimentation. The following three sessions will continue as round table sharing of poems written based on workshop prompts and ideas.
