We will begin with The Lives of the Heart by Jane Hirshfield, a lyric collection that examines how the heart – human and creaturely – attends to and engages with the world. We’ll then move to The Branch Will Not Break by beloved Ohio poet, James Wright, whose detailed images of the natural world connect with one’s inner world, capturing both the light and the darkness in both. We’ll end with Jane Kenyon’s The Boat of Quiet Hours, a collection of personal poems grounded in place and time: the turning of the seasons in a rural New England landscape.
